Child support is the financial support that a non-custodial parent provides to help the custodial parent with the raising of their children. It is expected and often necessary to assist the custodial parent to raise the child.
Currently the non-payment of child support is one of the greatest problem facing single parents today. But it is also important to remember that he payment of child support is often a two way street and it must be fair and equitable. While the government is quick to note the non-payment statistics, it often forgets that many non-custodial parents suffer greatly from inequitable child support orders and many custodial parents suffer from inadequate orders.
Our goal is to help parents, custodial and non-custodial, understand the importance of child support and to help them develop equitable financial arrangements which will enable the children to survive and the parent not to have to suffer.
Child support should be equitable… This is what is most important. Both parents should be able to maintain a life style which allows them to survive.
Help with child support can be obtained through you local Domestic Relations Office which is normally connected to the local family division. It is often more difficult for the non-custodial parent to develop the advocacy necessary to promote their case, but often it is possible. If you are having problems with a child support order, please feel free to contact us and we will see what we can do to help.
